California, Here We Come!


At Ambition 2012, the final announcement was that Ambit Energy will be starting natural gas service in the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) area starting September 20th, 2012!

 


PG&E services Northern and Central California covering over 70,000 square miles. Their service area stretches from Eureka in the north to Bakersfield in the south, and from the Pacific Ocean in the west to the Sierra Nevada in the east. There are 4.3 million gas customers in this area.

There are also 5.1 million electric customers in this area!

Ambition 2012

Every year Ambit Energy hosts a national conference to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the company and the independent consultants. Each year the conference exceeds the best expectations of everyone. Ambition 2012 just finished in Dallas, Texas and it was no exception. This was the best Ambition yet!

There were so many wonderful stories of how this opportunity has changed lives for the better. The best of the best were rewarded with crystal trophies and recognition in front of their peers. More people were added to the Ambit Energy Millionaire Club and three consultants were inducted into the new 5 Million Club!

The entertainment was outstanding, from the corporate vs. consultants softball game to the John Mellencamp concert, to the Drum Cafe West performers. 

The training was divided up by level and was customized to provide exactly what consultants at that level needed to know and do. The guest trainers were top notch. 

The giveaways were awesome! $10,000 checks...a customized 2013 Harley-Davidson Fatboy...and a customized 2013 Cadillac CTS!


Then came the announcements—the opportunity for more Ambition attendees to earn free energy, the bonus multipliers, the upgraded compensation plan, and the market expansion plans!

All of these things together made this absolutely the best Ambition yet! I look forward to seeing how they can top this next year!

One Million Customers by Ambition 2012?

Ambit Energy started sending out independent consultants to gather customers for the company in October of 2006. By the end of the first quarter 2011, they  had over 500,000 customers. Four months later, they passed the 600,000 customer milestone. By the end of 2011, the company passed the 700,000 customer mark, adding more than 250,000 new customers during the year.

At the end of May 2012, the company announced it had added another 155,000 plus customers since the beginning of the year, bringing the total number of active customers to over 850,000. This is an average growth of over 30,000 customers per month.

The company has a goal to achieve over 1,000,000 active customers by the end of 2012. At the rate they have been growing they should pass the one million customer mark in the September to October time frame. However, the customer acquisition rate is actually increasing as more consultants join the business and start gathering new customers. Therefore, it is highly possible that the company will be able to announce during General Session at their annual Ambition conference on September 1st that they have already achieved that goal!

Three-peat

On August 21st, 2012, Inc. Magazine released their annual company rankings. For the third year in a row, Ambit Energy is ranked on the Inc. 5000 List. In 2010, the first year they were eligible to be listed, they ranked #1 as the fastest-growing private company in America. In 2011, they stayed in the Top 500 at #390. In 2012, they are at #1305 based on a 3-year growth rate of 237%. 

Ambit had $663.9 million revenue in 2011, which puts them at #61 by revenue. Only 90 out of the 5000 companies on the list earned $500 million or more in revenue.

There are 103 energy companies on the list. Only 10 of those companies earned over $500 million. Compared to all of them, Ambit ranks #6 by revenue and #43 by 3-year growth rate. 

Ambit ranked #4 in the Dallas metro area and #6 in Texas by revenue.

The Real Power of Ambit Energy

Our air conditioner stopped working a few months ago and had to be replaced. The old unit lasted for 16 years in the south Texas heat. During the months of May 2012 through August 2012, which included the hottest July since weather records started being kept, we used 5,443 kWh of energy. That is 1,117 kWh (17%) less than the 6,560 kWh used in 2011 due to the better efficiency of the new AC unit! 

Our previous electricity provider charged us $1,024.00 during that same time of year. The total charges that I had from Ambit during these four months this year was $563.74. We saved 45% on just the rate difference alone! However, it gets even better than that...

We took advantage of the Customer Referral Program. The program says that if you refer at least 15 new customers to the company, then the company will start averaging those new customers' bills and apply that amount as a credit on your bill every month. Thanks to this program, the credits on our bills reduced the total amount due to less than $10.00 each month during those four months. The combined total amount due from May 2012 to August 2012 was only $36.58! Almost 94% of our bill was covered by the Customer Referral Credit! This also is a total savings of $987.42 over my previous provider. 

In the past, during the months of May through August, I would have paid the equivalent of a mortgage payment, but now I only pay what it costs to buy a couple of plates of BBQ. That is the power of the free energy program! Click here to take a look.

It just keeps getting better though. Customers also earn travel reward points based on their energy usage. From May 2011 through August 2012, we earned enough points to go on a discounted cruise, take a spa/golf getaway, or get two free airline tickets. All for just paying a bill that we already have to pay every month anyway.

When we were first introduced to the company, we recognized that there would be significant savings and other benefits as a customer. Since we like to help people we also knew that we would be telling everyone that we know about how they could save money and earn free travel. Because we were going to be telling them anyway, we decided to join as consultants and then became our own first customer. Consultants are able to earn monetary bonuses, but also get paid a residual income every month based on the energy usage of their customers. The residual income that we earn every month is already significantly higher than what our old energy bills used to be and it keeps growing all the time. This month's residual check was up 60% over a year ago, 244% over two years ago, and 881% higher than it was three years ago.

We have used our Ambit income and savings this year to buy that new AC unit, a new washing machine, a new dishwasher, a new garage door opener, and send my wife to the Philippines for 6 weeks of vacation with plenty of spending money in her pocket, as well as give more to charity! In the first seven months of 2012, we already earned as much from Ambit as we had in all of 2011. Thank God that we live in a time and place that we can take advantage of this opportunity and all of its benefits and that we can share them with and be able to help others.

Stop Selling and Make More Money!

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "sales"? What about "salesman"?

Most people have a lot of negative images that flood their mind when they hear those words. They think of pushy people with an agenda that will say anything up to and including lying just to get you to give them money for something that you don't really want or need. After you finally give in and purchase from this type of person, you have a bad memory of them and hope you never see them again, and you typically are not happy with what you got. You see it as a waste of money.

There are a lot of people out there that do just that trying to "make the sale." However, those are not the ones that are making the most money and they certainly are not making many friends.

Contrast that with someone that you meet who wants to know about you instead of telling you all about them. Someone who asks questions to find out about what needs, issues, and concerns you have and then proposes a solution to meet those needs, deal with those issues and alleviate those concerns. This is a person that you are glad you met and you are extremely happy with what you got from them. You look forward to doing business with that person again and you may even develop a friendship with them outside of business. You refer your friends and family to them because you know that they can help them too.

Which of these two people will make the most money in the long run? Obviously the one that is making people happy and getting referrals will do much better.

If you want to make more money stop thinking about you and start thinking about them. Have a genuine concern for the person you are talking with (not to) and find out their needs. This discovery process is done by asking questions and then listening to the answers. Keep in mind that many people do not even really take the time to think about what they are really looking for. They have gotten into a routine and just go day-by-day. Learning to ask the right questions will help you focus on them and will help them discover what it is they really want.

Once you have that information then you can show them the solution to what they are looking for.
