New National Consultant: Ray Montie

Ray Montie from New York originally turned down the invitation by Brian McClure to join Ambit Energy. However, in October 2007, he changed his mind. He has spent the last three years building a very large and successful team. He was an inaugural inductee to the Co-Founders Leadership Council in 2008. At Ambition 2009, he received the Thompson Leadership Award as well as the EC Pacesetter award. He was also recognized as the #6 income earner in Ambit up from #7 in 2008. Today he earned his promotion to the highest leadership level that an Ambit consultant can obtain: National Consultant!

Congratulations, Ray!

Four Direct Selling Companies Make the Top 500 List

Direct Selling News reports that four companies that use direct selling to market their products and services earned their spot in the top 150 of the 2010 Inc. 500 list: Ambit Energy (#1), Scentsy (#19), Stella & Dot (#67), and Uppercase Living (#138).

The Energy Retailer's Paradox — Free Energy

Energy retailers are in the business of selling electricity and natural gas. They purchase the energy from a generation company at wholesale and then resell it to the consumer at retail. This is how the retail providers create revenue and profit in their business. However, one company actually provides a way for consumers to get their energy for free. What makes this paradox even bigger is that partly because of this business model, the company has actually increased their revenues by 20,369% from $1.6 Million in 2006 to $325 Million in 2009!

MSNBC: Meet America's Fastest-Growing Company

Today, MSNBC published an article about the fastest-growing company in America.

"Imagine trying to live up to the kind of entrepreneurial legacy Jere Thompson Jr.—whose grandfather Joe Thompson started the iconic 7-Eleven chain in 1927—faces every day when he heads to work. But the younger Thompson has been establishing an impressive track record of his own, most recently by building a company that sells electricity and natural gas in the deregulated energy markets."

Energy, Chocolate, and Warren Buffett

What do Ambit Energy, Mars, and Berkshire Hathaway have in common?

They are all involved in direct sales.

In a time of layoffs and unemployment, starting a home-based business to supplement or replace your income becomes even more appealing. If you work for yourself, you don't have to worry about getting a pink slip and you have additional tax benefits that an employee does not have. Working from home avoids the rush hour traffic and high fuel bills and allows you to have more time with your family.

Although direct sales and multi-level marketing is very appealing, especially during a recession, there are some scams out there. This is why it is important to deal with companies that have a proven leadership team, are accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and are members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA). Being involved with the BBB and DSA like this brings a level of accountability and helps to ensure that you are working with a reputable company.

Ambit Energy has been accredited by the BBB since 2006 and currently has an 'A' rating with them. Ambit is also a member in good standing with the DSA.

This article provides some interesting information on using direct sales to promote growth.

The Fastest-Growing Privately-Owned Company in America

Inc. Magazine has released its 2010 Inc. 500 | 5000 list of the fastest-growing privately-owned companies in the United States and Ambit Energy is at the very top of the list!

The companies on the list are ranked by percentage growth over a 3-year period. Their 2009 revenues are compared to their 2006 revenues and the percentage of growth determines their placement on the list.

Ambit Energy had an astounding 20,369% growth rate with 2009 revenues of $325 Million. The company had revenues of $1.6 Million in 2006. This was the first year that Ambit Energy was eligible for placement on the list.

"We are thrilled and honored to achieve the number one ranking. When Chris Chambless, John Burke and I began a few years ago, our goal was to be the finest and most respected retail energy company. We never focused on becoming the fastest growing." --Ambit Energy CEO Jere Thompson, Jr.

Ambit Energy was also ranked #1 in the Energy Industry, #1 in the Dallas Metro area, and #30 in Gross Dollars of Growth.

Rarely does the average person in America have the opportunity to have the sole decision on whether or not they want to join the fastest-growing company in the nation. However, since Ambit Energy uses direct sales to market electricity and natural gas, this year people do have that choice.
