PUCT Approves Increased Charges from CenterPoint Energy

Recently, CenterPoint Energy (the delivery company for one or more of your Texas Customers) applied for and received approval by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) for a fee increase to offset increased energy distribution costs. This increase affects all Retail Electric Providers (“REPs”) in the service region, including Ambit Energy.

This change in CenterPoint’s delivery charges will result in a $1.69/month increase per Customer, as well as a $0.00085 per kWh increase. The PUCT allows this increase on variable and fixed-rate products.

New Jersey Expansion

Ambit Energy will be starting service in the Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) and Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) areas starting on Thursday, September 8th, 2011. Electricity service will be available in both service areas. PSE&G customers can also upgrade to Ambit's natural gas service. 

The Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Rockland Electric (RECO) areas will open for service on Thursday, October 20th, 2011.

Ambit Energy Earns "Top 5 Electric Provider" Honors in Texas


DALLAS – August 30, 2011 – For the second consecutive year, Ambit Energy was named a “top five electric provider in Texas” based on a recent customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power and Associates. The survey considered the responses of 8,100 Texas residential customers about their overall satisfaction with their electricity provider, increasing Ambit Energy’s overall customer satisfaction index by 26 points from 2010.


The 2011 Texas Residential Retail Electric Provider Customer Satisfaction Study™, now in its fourth year, measures customer satisfaction with retail electric utility providers in Texas by considering four key factors: price; billing and payment; communications; and customer service.


Ambit Energy earned top rankings in the categories of communications performance, retailer loyalty and enrollment:

  • Ranked first in communications when customers were asked about satisfaction in communicating changes, new offers/promotions and using attention-grabbing messaging. 
  • Ranked first in number of positive recommendations to friends, family and coworkers about customer’s current energy provider. 
  • Ranked first in positive percentage growth, with most respondents switching providers to Ambit Energy in the past 12 months.

On CNBC, Bill Gates was asked, "What industry to you think is going to produce the next Bill Gates?"

Half a Million Customers & Still Growing Rapidly

Ambit Energy announced that they now have over 500,000 active customers as of the first quarter of 2011. Additionally, Ambit's CMO, Chris Chambless, has stated that the customer growth rate in 2011 is on track to match the 2010 growth rate of 73%. 2010 DSN Global 100

Ambit Energy jumped 7 spots on the DSN Global 100 list this year and is now ranked as the 31st largest direct-selling company in the world! The newly published list is based on the 2010 revenues of each company. 


The average age of the companies in the Top 30 is 41.3 years. Ambit Energy is only 5 years old. In fact, 8 of the Top 30 companies are more than 10 times the age of Ambit Energy!


Only 17 companies on the list climbed more than 5 spots higher than they were last year. Meanwhile 12 companies that were listed last year are no longer on the list.

Ambit Energy to Provide Electricity in Illinois!



Ambit Energy announced that it will expand into the ComEd market of Illinois beginning near the end of June 2011. 


The ComEd service territory covers 11,411 square miles in Northern Illinois and covers approximately 70 percent of the population in Illinois and the vast majority of the State’s industrial companies.


This expansion allows Ambit Energy independent consultants to offer electricity service to approximately 3.8 million customers in Illinois! Ambit already offers natural gas service in the Nicor service area of Illinois.

Ambit Energy Expands Service to PPL Territory

On April 7th, 2011, Ambit Energy began servicing customers in the PPL territory in Pennsylvania. This expansion adds about 1.4 million new potential customers. Combined with the PECO territory that Ambit Energy already services, there are about 2.8 million potential customers in PA which account for about $3.1 billion in potential revenue!
