Dallas-based energy provider added more than 250,000 customers in 2011
DALLAS – February 8, 2012 – Ambit Energy, a national retail energy provider, announced today the company ended 2011 with over 700,000 customers – an increase of more than 250,000 for the year.
“We have been extremely fortunate to have so many new people discover the value of Ambit Energy,” said Jere Thompson Jr., Ambit Energy co-founder and CEO. “Thanks to our dedicated team of Independent Consultants, Ambit’s customer base grew over 65% for our second year in a row.”
After reaching 500,000 customers in the first quarter of 2011, the company, announced that it surpassed 600,000 customers in August. Contributing to Ambit’s late-2011 growth was the completion of a 32 market expansion, including eight residential markets and 24 small commercial markets and continued growth in the Texas ERCOT market.
“New markets mean exciting new opportunities, and our incredible entrepreneurial Consultants are making the most of them,” said Chris Chambless, Ambit Energy co-founder and CMO. “With their amazing efforts, we’re on track to reach our goal of one million customers and $1 billion in annual revenue.”
As a retail energy provider, Ambit Energy buys power wholesale and resells it to retail customers. Customers are acquired by the company’s team of more than 150,000 Independent Consultants nationwide.
