On April 16th, Direct Selling News (DSN) had their awards ceremony recognizing the largest direct-selling companies in the world based on their annual revenue. Ambit Energy was recognized as the 15th largest direct-selling company on the planet based on 2011 revenues of $664 million. This is a 60% increase over the 2010 revenues of $415.
The preliminary list is now posted on the DSN website. The final list will be published in the June 2012 issue of the magazine. The Top 15 from the list are shown below.
The average age in 2011 of the 14 companies above Ambit Energy on the list is 51 years. Ambit celebrated its 5th year last September.
The average number of countries that the other 14 companies operate in is 43. In 2011, Ambit only did business in one country, the United States, and not even the whole country—only in 6 states (Texas, New York, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey)! On April 19th, 2012, Ambit will start service in its 7th state, Connecticut.
This is truly a recession-proof business as evidenced by the fact that since the U.S. economy headed south in late 2007, Ambit has increased its revenues by 1,437%!
